Can you believe summer is almost over?

This time last year, so many things were unknown. It was scary and difficult for so many of us to send our kiddos to school. While things still seem somewhat chaotic now, our lives have settled into a new normal, and it’s not all that bad.

If you are new to CLS, I want you to know that your school was one of the few in the state of Maryland that had in-person school the entire year in 2020/2021 without a single shutdown. Incredible!

We keep hearing how kids are resilient, but at CLS, our children don’t just “get through” or “adapt”. They THRIVE!

They do this with well-supportive parents, grandparents, and close-knit communities, but most importantly, they do it at CLS with the help of a loving staff and administration that truly cares for each child and respects and loves them as one of God’s own, and a firm foundation in Christ. It is amazing to see.

Right now, as we prepare to send our kids back to school, things have changed again and we are looking at our new way of living, and it can be very scary at times. We have to let go a little and just trust. It isn’t easy to do.

There is a song by Matthew West called, Take Heart. It really speaks to me. Here are some of the lyrics:

Do you remember singing
Back when you were younger
He’s got the whole world in His hands
Well, that’s still true
I hold your family, all your friends, and all your loved ones
And even when you’re barely holding on
I’m holding you
So take heart
Take a breath
Let Me lift that heavyweight up off your chest
Take My hand
I know it’s looking dark
When the world falls all around you
I won’t let you fall apart
Take heart

As we head into the new school year, please know that there is a lot of work going on in the background, and every step and choice is methodical. With caring and loving staff, support from the CLS community, and a God who is bigger than all of the world’s problems, let’s watch our kiddos thrive once again!
